Affiliate disclosure

Where the money comes from, stated plainly.

How this site earns

This site earns from display advertising and from affiliate commission when a reader follows certain links and takes out a product, at no extra cost to the reader.

Where a link earns us commission, it is marked on the page it appears on. The categories involved are pet insurance, veterinary telehealth, and a small number of retail products. That is the entire list.

What we do not take money from

We carry no paid placements, no sponsored surveys and no commercial relationship that could change a published figure.

No advertiser sees a page before it goes live. No partner can ask for a number to be presented differently. If a partner’s own pricing appears in a survey, it is recorded the same way as everybody else’s.

We also carry no veterinary financing or medical credit links. Those products are aimed at people making an urgent decision under financial pressure, and we are not willing to earn from that moment. Where financing is relevant we explain the options and link to them without commission.

Pages that carry nothing at all

Our end-of-life pages carry no affiliate links and no commercial placement of any kind.

Euthanasia, cremation and burial costs are read by people in the middle of losing an animal. Those pages exist because the information is hard to find and the bill arrives at the worst possible time. We will not monetise them.

Insurance links specifically

We may earn a referral fee when a reader takes out a pet insurance policy through a link on this site, and that does not affect what we say about insurance.

Insurance does not cover pre-existing conditions, which means it is of no use to a reader whose animal is already ill. We say so on the pages where it matters, even though saying so earns us nothing. Our editorial policy covers why.
