How corrections work here
When a figure turns out to be wrong we check it against the original source, correct the page, and record what changed on this list with the date.
Report one to corrections@petpriceindex.com. Include the page and, if you can, the provider link showing the figure you believe is right — that is what lets us check it quickly.
We do not silently edit numbers. A price that changes because the provider raised their price is not a correction, it is a re-survey, and it shows up as a new collection date on the page rather than an entry here.

- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/dog-spay-cost/: Animal Welfare Society's $400 price for dogs of 50 lb or less had been marked as restricted. It is the clinic's general-public community price (its income-qualified price is $300), so it is now counted. The survey counts 179 prices, not 178; the median stays $220, the middle half is $153 to $335 (was $151 to $328), 30 prices are $400 or more (was 29), and the 20 to 50 lb median is $188 (was $187). The same figures were updated in our posts on a $475 spay quote, why dog spay prices differ and whether a spay or neuter quote is reasonable, and in the dog neuter and cat spay surveys.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/is-475-too-much-to-spay-a-dog/: Rechecked against the dog spay sheet after its 10 October re-verification. The summary said 183 prices; it is 178. The middle half was given as $150 to $333; it is $151 to $328. Separately priced cones run $8 to $45, not $8 to $10. The page said Sweetspire Vet Clinic's dog prices include pain medication and the e-collar; that line on its page sits under the cat prices, so the claim was removed. No median changed.

That line on Sweetspire's page sits under its cat prices, so it does not confirm the dog inclusions; the claim was removed and the prices are described as starting prices. The same claim was removed from our post on a $400 dog neuter quote. No price or median changed.
- , /vet-costs/end-of-life/cat-euthanasia-cost/: The page said 23 of the 88 providers do not let the owner stay. Dane County Humane Society also sells an owner-present option, so the count is 22. No price or median changed.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/cat-neuter-cost/: Every source page was reopened. Three prices had been recorded wrongly in September: Animal Rescue League of Boston's owned-cat price is $175 (the $125 recorded was its feral package), Lynchburg Humane Society publishes an owned-cat neuter at $105 (only its $55 feral price had been recorded), and All About Animals Rescue's open $50 price had been missed. Northeast Arkansas Humane Society's price rose from $75 to $95 and is limited to income-qualifying families, so it is now excluded. The survey counts 47 prices, not 46; the median stays $80 and the middle half is $60 to $106. The Northeast median is $143 and the Midwest $75. Four providers had been logged twice in the checked list, so 109 were checked, not 113, and 48 per cent published a price. The dog neuter comparison now uses 244 prices.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/cat-spay-cost/: Every source page was reopened: one restricted price had risen (Northeast Arkansas Humane Society, $85 to $95) and 10 links had moved at the same price, so the median ($100) and the 75 counted prices are unchanged. The page had given the middle half as $75 to $140, from a different percentile method; it is $75 to $135. It said 113 providers were checked; that counted pages, and five providers had been logged twice, so it is 108. Four counts were corrected: 24 listings, not 10, name nothing beyond the surgery; an in-heat surcharge is priced on its own on 12, not 13; a cat deposit appears on 20, not 24; bloodwork is tied to age at 13 of 15 clinics, not 12. The comparison with our other surveys now includes the cat neuter survey ($80, cheaper than a cat spay) and the corrected dog neuter count of 244.
- , /prices/cats/bengal-cat-price/: The page said 11 catteries screen the parents for HCM. Six do; five more cover HCM in their health guarantee, which we had counted as screening. No price or median changed.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/dog-neuter-cost/: Every source page was reopened. Brandywine Valley SPCA's one price list had been entered twice, once under Pennsylvania and again under Delaware, so five prices were counted twice; the Delaware copy is removed and the survey now counts 244 prices from 91 providers, not 249 from 92. The median stays $205; the middle half is $149 to $296 (the page had said $150 to $293, from a different percentile method). Atlanta Humane Society's $225 now covers dogs of 5 to 40 lb only, so it moved from the any-weight row to the 20 to 50 lb band. Eight restricted prices rose (Northeast Arkansas Humane Society, Kentucky Humane Society's pit bull programme, SPCA of Northern Nevada) and 16 links moved at the same price. The 50 to 80 lb median is $205, not $203, the cryptorchid counts are 75 and 43 providers, not 76 and 44, and the state chart now shows seven states with ten or more prices.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/dog-spay-cost/: Every source page was reopened. Two prices had risen (Northeast Arkansas Humane Society, 51 to 75 lb, $250 to $275; SPCA of Northern Nevada, $130 to $150 for November bookings) and 16 had moved to new addresses at the same price; the sheet now holds the current figures and links. The median ($220) and middle half did not move. The page had given the middle half as $150 to $333, worked out by a different percentile method from the one the site uses; it is $151 to $328. The step between a provider's smallest and largest weight band was described as usually $100 to $200; across the 46 providers with more than one band the median step is $75. Northeast Arkansas Humane Society now accepts females up to 100 lb, so the sentence saying it stops at 75 lb is removed.
- , /vet-costs/dental/dog-teeth-cleaning-cost/: The page said only 4 of 45 providers include pre-anesthetic bloodwork in the base dental price. Every Banfield price page also says that all anesthetic procedures include routine bloodwork, an IV catheter and fluids, and routine anesthesia and monitoring; we had recorded the price but not that sentence. Rechecked on all 30 Banfield pages: the count is 34 of 45, 30 of them Banfield. The inclusions chart and sentence are corrected. No price, median, range or table changed.
- , /vet-costs/dental/what-is-included-in-a-dog-dental-cleaning-quote/: Same correction as the dog teeth cleaning survey: bloodwork is in the base price at 34 of 45 providers, 30 of them Banfield hospitals, not 4 of 45. The opening, the summary and the bloodwork section now say so; outside Banfield the count of 4 stands. Pet Dental Clinic is now described as in Colorado, because its own pages give two different towns.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/dog-neuter-cost/: The cryptorchid count was wrong for the second time. The page said 52 providers price the surcharge; recounting every row in the sheet gives 76 providers that mention it and 44 that state a price. The 19 September correction below moved this figure from 78 to 52 and did not fix it. The sentence now gives both numbers. No median, range, quartile or table changed.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/dog-neuter-cost/: Fact-check of every figure against the sheet and 13 provider pages. Eight sentences corrected: we checked providers in all 50 states and DC (prices came from 45 states and DC), not 46 states; the spay comparison now cites the spay survey (178 prices, 73 providers), not the same 136 providers; e-collar included on 85 prices, not 88; 52 providers price a cryptorchid surcharge, not 78, and the highest is $375 at the Humane Society of Southern Arizona, not $250 at Brandywine Valley SPCA; deposits on 87 listings, not 88; 49 combined spay-or-neuter prices, not 47; Value Pet Vet's $685 band is over 100 lb, not 101 to 150 lb; the widest weight steps are Monmouth County SPCA ($350) and the Spay & Neuter Center of New Jersey ($310), not Value Pet Vet. Median, range, quartiles and every table unchanged.

Two PPAW Spay/Neuter Clinic (Knoxville, TN) rows were mis-read: 2 to 20 lb is $80, not $95, and 51 to 80 lb is $110, not $95. VT-CAN! (VT) $350 band re-read as 50 to 75 lb. Cache Humane Society (UT) $134 includes a three-day pain prescription; we had listed it as excluded. Headline median, range and quartiles unchanged; under-20 lb median moved from $200 to $198 and 20 to 50 lb from $189.95 to $188.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/is-475-too-much-to-spay-a-dog/: The sentence saying only Northeastern nonprofits reach $475 was wrong: Sacramento SPCA (CA) lists $500 and South Suburban Humane Society (IL) $510 for their largest dogs. Reworded to name all five nonprofits at or above $475. No figure changed.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/dog-spay-cost/: Seattle Humane (WA, four prices) and NHSPCA (NH, one price) limit their clinics to income-qualified owners. Both pages say so and we missed it on first read; the prices move to the restricted list. Sample 183 to 178 prices and 75 to 73 providers. Median $220 unchanged; quartiles $155 to $330 became $150 to $333; under-20 lb median $198 to $200 and 20 to 50 lb $188 to $187; prices at $400 or more 30 to 29.
- , /vet-costs/spay-neuter/is-475-too-much-to-spay-a-dog/: Sample figures updated for the restricted-row correction above (178 prices, 73 providers, 29 at $400 or more, quartiles $150 to $333). The rewritten sentence listing providers at or above $475 still missed Animal Welfare Society (ME) and Providence Animal Rescue League (RI) and mis-counted Kent Animal Shelter as a nonprofit; it now names all seven.
