Editor, Pet Price Index
Making published pet prices easier to understand.
I research and write Pet Price Index, collecting provider prices and turning them into transparent, traceable cost surveys for US pet owners.

The work behind each survey
My work starts with provider websites. I record the prices they publish, the source pages and the dates I read them. I also log providers that do not list a price.
I maintain the spreadsheets and report the median with the range, the sample size and the number of providers checked. Each survey gives readers a way to inspect the figures and follow them back to their source.
The aim is simple: make pet cost information easier to check.
My role is price research
I am not a veterinarian and I do not treat animals. Questions about diagnosis, treatment or whether your pet needs a procedure belong with your vet.
